Graduate Developer - HTML / CSS / Python / Plone
As a result of our continuing success and growth we are seeking a Web Developer to help build and support our Web Systems.

The role
You will work closely with the Technical Director and Client Services Manager to ensure that our web-based products provide the best possible experience for our users.
You will be engaged in the development and maintenance of websites. Your work will be challenging, varied and you will often develop projects from the initial brief, concept formation, through design, development to the final delivery.
Applicants should be committed to expanding their skills and knowledge, and every encouragement will be given to facilitate this. Applicants will be expected and encouraged to manage time and projects in an efficient and well-organised manner. In addition, the role will often involve direct contact with clients requiring excellent communication skills and confidence.
Most important is a desire and willingness to learn and to embrace new technologies.
Key accountabilities
- To design and develop websites ensuring strong functionality and optimisation
- Liaise with the client, account management, technical and design teams to ensure successful delivery of projects to meet client requirements within budget and on time
- Liaise with design team to ensure that the technical requirements of a project are not impinged by design proposals
- Work through all stages of production from initial briefing, design development through to delivery of technical solution
- Contribute to client meetings as appropriate; confidently presenting technical solutions direct to clients
- To keep abreast of developments in IT, particularly web development technologies, and new development techniques and toolsets to ensure Sharkbyte are at the cutting edge of the industry
- Adopting clear and consistent procedures for filing, archiving and cataloguing data
Essential Skills
- Knowledge and experience with Python.
- In depth CSS and X/HTML knowledge.
- Confident with using Linux.
- Willingness to acquire and learn new skills.
- Self-motivated and able to learn and work in a fast paced environment.
Desirable skills
- In-depth knowledge of the Zope application server
- Exposure of the Plone content management system
- Working with Open Source technologies.
- Testing and bug tracking experience.
- An understanding of W3C web standards and accessibility guidelines
- Proven Web and Database Development experience.
- Exposure to database administration using MySQL, or similar database software.
- Web / Graphical Design skills.
Qualities
- Being able to multi-task, prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure
- Ability to fit in and work as part of a small team
- Keenness to learn and try new technological disciplines
- Ability to switch seamlessly between programming languages
- Knowledge/interest of design and branding
